1. Présentation du test.
This test is used to verify that the Slide AF encoder is able to go from the position zero to the maximum position 249.
The Slide EncoderAF will do to a complete search, i.e. starting and finishing positions are at the same place. The starting position corresponds to position 0 on the encoder, the arrival position corresponds to position 249.
Explanation on the encoder wheel : The encoder wheel used for the Slide Encoder/autofocus is the same as the other film carrier. It has 500 tops per turn (1), which indicates the precise position of the slide for the Autofocus Slide . Also it has 1 top per turn(2) which indicates position 0. The outside positions of the wheel (3) are not used.
To make this test, the scanner will make move the Slide AF motor to position 0 and will check that it can position itself to position 249.
If the Slide AF motor is not able to go from position 0 to position 249, the Slide EncoderAF will not function.
2. Test conditions.
This test relates to the Mounted slide gate inserted in the scanner.
The Mounted slide gate must be inserted in the scanner to carry out this test.
No film is necessary for this test.
The acceptance of the test is automatic.
No parameter is saved.
3. Pre-requirements.
- the encoder wheel must be in the centre of the sensor, and especially not touch this one. Check that the encoder wheel is not buckled.
- Slide EncoderAF_Zero Test is accepted to ensure that position 0 can be found.
4. Test realisation.
Click on
RUN to execute the test. A window will appear requiring to withdraw the film carrier When it is done, click on Restart.
A new window requests the insertion of the film carrier. When it is done, click on Restart (caution, before clicking on Restart, wait for the film carrier to be detected first, top dialog box indicates " Slide ").
This ejection - insertion phase of the film carrier is used to ensure that the film carrier is in a nominal position to boot up the test.
The scanner will move the Slide EncoderAF Zero motor from position 0 to position 249.
Final the result will be displayed on the screen.
5. Test acceptance.
The test is is accepted if the Slide AF motor is able to pass from position 0 to position 249, if not, it will be rejected.
6. Other affected tests.
If position 0 is not found, all the tests where an image is scanned will be affected.
7. Trouble shooting.
If the test fails with the message " Fail: Cancelled by User " : this means that the film carrier was not detected the Restart button was pressed. Start again the test and make sure that the film carrier is detected when it is inserted.
If the test fails : Remove the protective plate to visually check that the wheel is well positioned in the sensor, that it does not touch it, that it is not buckled, that it is not damaged in any way and that the hole position 0 is not blocked. If it is the case, change it. If not, check that nothing blocks the movement of the carriage from right-hand side onto the left side.
