1. Test overview.
This test allows the adjustment of the IR signal so that it falls within acceptable tolerances. The operator will need to check with the test CCD IR that the signal is acceptable.
Caution : This adjustment is accessible only on the scanners where the adjustable POC support is pre sent. If this POC upport is not present, this adjustment cannot be carried out.
To complete this adjustment, the IR source will be switched on. This will make it possible to pick up the signal on the CCD continuously. You must move the adjustable support to the left or right to find the best signal.
If the IR signal is incorrectly adjusted that can have an impact on the ADDR system.
2. Test conditions.
This test relates only to the scanner only.
No film carrier must be present in the scanner to carry out this test.
No film is necessary for this test.
The acceptance of the test is manual.
No parameter is saved.
3. Pre-requirements.
The scanner must be fitted with an adjustable POC support.
Depending on the scanner an Allen key, Torx key or CHC key is required to make this adjustment.
4. Test realisation.
Loosen up the six screws of the POC support.
Click on "
RUN " to execute the test. The first measurement of the IR IR signal will be carried out (average value: SCORE and a curve will be displayed onto the screen). It is the starting point of the adjustment. A window appears indicating " to adjust the POC support and to accept when the signal is to the maximum ". Click on OK to start the continued measurement of the signal.
To move the support from the right-hand side to the left (without putting the hand in front of the signal not to seal it) and find the maximum. When the maximum has been found, click on ABORT then ACCEPT to accept the test.
Tighten-up the 6 screws of the POC support.
The CCD IR is shown in a horizontal way : the top of the CCD lR is on the left, bottom on the right.
5. Test acceptance.
The test is accepted when the maximum IR signal has been reached and that it is within the allowed tolerances (cyan curve high and low - SCORE ranging between 62 and 185).
6. Autres tests impactés.
If the IR signal has slightly been modified the test will not be valid. On the other hand, if the IR signal is nil, the following tests will fail.
- xxx Pre-Scan IR.
- xxx Ratio RGB-IR.
- xxx Scan IR.
- xxx Cal Encoder 2.
- xxx Cal RGB IR.
- xxx ADDR.
xxx corresponding to the film carrier.
7. Trouble shooting.
If the IR signal is above the upper tolerance when the maximum was reached : As long as the signal is not saturated ( i.e. that it does not reach the top of the graph), this will not have a serious effect and the scanner can remain as it is. If not, the signal should be lowered. For that, re-start the test and find an intermediary position of the support which gives a signal within the tolerance range.
If the IR signal is below the lower tolerance when the maximum was reached : this means that the signal is too weak. In this case, it is necessary to change the IR card.
If the IR signal does not have an " ideal " form : try to tighten or draw aside the LEDS at the required place in order to increase or decrease the signal.
