APS RATIO RGB-IR

1. Test overview.

This test is used to adjust the film carrier so that RGB and IR images are of the same size.
For this, the scanner will scan a B&W film in RGB and in IR, will work out the size of each image and will calculate a ratio of it. A ratio of 1 means that the 2 images are exactly of the same cut.
Note : The size of the image is according to the distance Film CCD. Change in size can be achieved by slightly pulling in and out the film carrier in the scanner, so that measurement in RGB is carried out at the same level as for the IR measurement.
Ratio RGB-IR
If the RGB and IR images are not of the same cut, all of the ADDR system is affected.

2. Test conditions.

This test relates to the APS film carrier inserted in the scanner.
The film carrier must be inserted in the scanner to carry out this test.
A short B&W film must be used for this test (ref. 070 100 423A):
Film APS Court NB
The acceptance of the test is automatic.
No parameter is saved.

3. Pre-requirements.

4. Test realisation.

Click on RUN to execute the test. A message will come up asking to insert the short B&W film. When the film is inserted, (Caution : watch for the direction of film), click on OK.
The scanner will scan the first exposure of film in RGB and in IR then will automatically detect the crosses present on the film to calculate the size of each image (see Automatic Crosses detection for more information on this subject).
When this is done, the ratio is displayed and according, the test will be accepted or rejected.

5. Test acceptance.

The test is accepted if the ratio (image size IR / image size RGB) lies between 0,9990 and 1,0010.

6. Other affected tests.

If the ratio is outside the tolerances, the following tests will be affected.

7. Trouble shooting.

  • If The test is rejected : it means that one image is larger than the other. Follow the screen instructions and play on the slide to pull in or out the film carrier to obtain images of the same cut. Start again the test and restart until the test is accepted.
