APS MAGNETIC TRACK

1. Test overview.

This test is used to check that the scanner + film carrier are able to read magnetics information of the film correctly, i.e. shot formats of each image (C, H or P).
For this, the scanner will scan a film and check that the reading of magnetics informations is correct (written on magnetic tracks at the top of film).
If the reading is faulty, the customer could complain about incorrect an recognition the exposure of film formats.

2. Test conditions.

This test relates to the APS film carrier inserted in the scanner.
The APS film carrier must be inserted in the scanner to carry out this test.
A standard film APS 25 installations must be used for this test.
The acceptance of the test is automatic.
No value is saved.

3. Pre-requirements.

None.

4. Réalisation du test.

Click on RUN to execute the test. A message will come up requiring the insertion of the film. When the film is inserted, click on OK.c The scanner will pre - scan the film and will display resultat of the magnetic reading.

Data on magnetics information : each film exposure can have a different format (C, H or P). The format of each exposure is magnetically coded 3 times (for security purpose) . Each of 3 information can be read or not read, and the reading can be correct or not.
Test result is as follows : For example, Result " Photos with 3/2/1/0 Read tracks: 15/1/2/7 " means that on this 25 exposure film, 15 images have a format where the information has been read 3 times, 1 image has a format where information has been read twice, 2 images have a format where information has been read once and 7 images have a format where the information has not been read/ 0 time.

5. Test Acceptance.

The test is accepted if :

Note : The hwmon is less flexible than the DKS. Indeed, the DKS is satisfied with only one information correctly read by image to display the correct format. Consequently, Result CORRECT 5/14/6/0 will be completely acceptable for the DKS, Even if some formats, on certain films, are not read.

6. Other affected tests.

None.

7. Trouble shooting.
