1. Test overview.
This test is used to calibrate the play of all the gears from the motor to each gear of the film carrier. The scanning being done in the opposite direction of the pre-scanning, it is necessary to take into account the change of direction of the motor.
For that, the scanner, by simulating a phase of scanning, will make several measurements of this play and will take the maximum value found.
If the play is incorrectly gauged, this could cause problems in the image framing, see ADDR.
2. Conditions of the test.
This test relates to the 135 film carrier inserted in the scanner.
The 135 film carrier must be present in the scanner to carry out this test.
No film is necessary for this test.
The acceptance of the test is automatic.
The amount of play is saved in the file im1500data.ini, in chapter FILM_CARRIER_135, line TRANSMISSION_PLAY.
3. Pre-requirements.
- Film carrier driving gear (of bottom) correctly tightened. There should not be any play with that the top.
- Motor Intensity Test is accepted to ensure that the tension of the primary belt is correct.
4. Test realisation.
Click on
RUN to execute the test. The scanner will take 25 consecutive measurements of the play and will display the value found for each measurement. For each measurement, the motor will turn in one direction, will briefly stop then start again in the opposite direction.
An unexplainable graph is updated at each measurement: do not take it into account.
At the end of 25 measurements, the end amount of play corresponds to the largest value found. It is this value which is saved. the updated graphic corresponds to the amount of play of 25 measurements carried out.
Note : the amount of play of 25 measurements is not necessary stable, it can vary with each measurement.
5. Test acceptance.
The test is accepted if the amount of play is lower than 80. If not the test is rejected.
6. Other affected tests.
- 135 Hoffset.
- 135 Cal Encoder 2.
- 135 Cal RGB IR.
- And to a lesser extent all tests where an image is scanned.
7. Trouble shooting.
If the test fails (amount of play higher than 80) : this means that there is too much play in the gears. Start by checking that the Film carrier driving gear (of bottom) does not interact with that of the top. Check the primary tension belt. Check the tension belt of the film carrier. Check the gears of the film carrier.
