120 CAL PLAY

1. Test overview.

This test is used to calibrate the play (play) of all the motor gears to each of the film carrier gear. The scan being done in opposite direction of the prescan, it is necessary to take into account of the change of direction of the motor.
For that, the scanner, while simulating a phase of scanning, will initialise several measurements of this play and will take the maximum value found.
If the play is incorrectly calibrated that can cause framing problemes of the image, see ADDR.

2. Conditions of the test.

This test relates to the 120 film carrier inserted in the scanner.
The 120 film carrier must to be inserted in the scanner to carry out this test.
No film is necessary for this test.
The acceptance of the test is automatic.
The amount of play is saved in the file im1500data.ini, in chapter FILM_CARRIER_120, line TRANSMISSION_PLAY.

3. Requirements.

4. Realisation of the test.

Click on RUN to execute the test. The scanner will take 25 consecutive measurements of the play and will display the value found for each measurement. For each measurement, the motor will turn in one direction, briefly stops then restart in the opposite direction.
A graph is updated at each measurement : Do not take it into account.
At the end of the 25 measurements, the end amount of play corresponds to the largest value found. This value is saved. The updated graphics correspond to the amount of play of the 25 measurements carried out.
Note : the amount of play of the 25 measurements is not particularly stable, it can vary with each measurement.

5. Acceptance of the test.

The test is accepted if the amount of play is lower than 80. If not The test is rejected.

6. Other affected tests.

7. Trouble shooting.

  • If the test fails (higher than 80) : this means that there is too much play in the gears. Start by checking that the film carrier gear (of bottom) does not interact with that of the top. Check the primary tension belt. Check the tension belt of the film carrier. Check the film carrier gears
