1. Test overview.
This test is used to check mainly that the correct firmwares version is present on the interface board light source and the interface board motor. The firmware is the software uploaded in the module card corresponding, which manages the actions of this module. It is the CPU board of the scanner which sends the orders to the firmware of the interface board film carrier.
The firmwares are programmed by the intermediary of Hwmon thanks either to the
Update Motor Firmware test or with the
Update Light Firmware test.
If the incorrect firmware version is programmed, the associated module (here the light source and the motor) can have unexpected behaviour and cause operational problems.
It should be noted that the DKS makes a check of the version at the launch of the firmware, and if the version of the uploaded firmware is not the right one, a message will go up to the user, asking to update it.
2. Conditions of the test.
This test relates to the scanner only only.
No gate must be present in the scanner during this test.
No film must be inserted in the gate for this test.
The acceptance of the test is automatic.
No parameter is saved.
3. Pre-requirements.
This test can be used to control the firmware version uploaded in the light source and the motor, or to check that the programming of the firmware was done correctly. In this last case, it is necessary before to launch the tests
Update Motor Firmware and
Update Light Firmware.
4. Test realisation.
Click on "
RUN" to execute the test. The firmware version firmware's uploaded is displayed on the screen.
The light source corresponds to line " FILTER " and the motor corresponds to line " MOTOR ". Lines
" IM15RAM " and " ACEX " correspond to the firmwares which are programmed at the time of the " Reset + Program All " of the scanner.
The line " FLASH " corresponds to the firmware uploaded in the " flash " of the CPU board (only uploaded program that enables the scanner to start). The programming of this firmware cannot be done using software.
Lastly, line " PROTOCOL " corresponds to the firmware of communications protocol between the scanner and the PC. It is programmed at the same time than the IM15RAM at the time of the " Reset + Program All ".
The result (accepted / rejected) will be shown on the screen.
5. Test acceptance.
If the firmwares version uploaded corresponds to the firmwares version expected by Hwmon, the test will be accepted.
If the firmwares version uploaded is different from the firmwares version expected by Hwmon, the test will be rejected. In this case, it is necessary to reprogram the firmware either with the
Update Motor Firmware test or with the
Update Light Firmware test.
The version of the firmware expected by Hwmon is in the file im1500data. It can be found in the GENERAL indent (at the start of the file). Warning, this file must not be modified.
6. Other affected tests.
It is difficult to say which are the tests affected by a incorrect (old) firmware version, because that precisely depends on the version of this firmware (each new version brought particular corrections).
7. Trouble shooting.
The test fails because version FILTER or MOTOR is not the correct one : Reprogram the firmware either with the Update Motor Firmware test or with the Update Light Firmware test.
