APS UPDATE FIRMWARE

1. Test overview.

This test is used to program the correct firmware version on the interface board of the APS film carrier. The firmware is the software uploaded in the the module card corresponding, which manages the actions of this module. It is CPU board of the scanner which sends the orders to the firmware of the interface board film carrier.
A the end of the programming, the correct firmware version can controlled using the test APS Check Firmware.
If the incorrect firmware version is programmed, the associated module (here the APS film carrier) can have unexpected behaviour and cause problems.
It should be noted that the DKS initialises of the firmware version at the launch, and if the version of the uploaded firmware is not correct, a message will go up to the user, requiring to update it.

2. Conditions du test.

This test relates to the APS film carrier inserted in the scanner.
The APS film carrier must be Inserted in the scanner to carry out this test.
No film must be inserted in the film carrier for this test.
The acceptance of the test is automatic.
No parameter is saved.

3. Pre-requirements.

None.

4. Réalisation du test.

Click on RUN to execute the test. The question "Film carrier interface board 1st time programmation ?" is asked. If the interface board has never been programmed, click on YES. If it has been programmed at least once in its life, click on NO. The operation starts takes about 15 seconds (a progression bar indicates the programming status of the firmware, this does not include the time of uploading of the file and of the length of time of the check).
It should be noted that the software checks the type of microcontrollor (ATMEGA8 or AT4433) and uses the file corresponding for the programming of the firmware.

5. Test acceptance.

If the operation is successful, the test is automatically accepted.
The firmware version to download is in the file im1500data. in the GENERAL indent (at the start of the file). Warning, this file must not be modified.
The file itself can be found in the index HEX of Hwmon (ex: DKS \IM1500\HEX).

6. Other affected tests.

It is difficult to say which are the tests affected by a incorrect (old) firmware version, because that precisely depends on the version of this firmware (each new version brought particular corrections).

7. Trouble shooting.
