135 FLARES

1. Test overview.

This test is to check that the antiflare plates of the 135 Film carrier are present. These plates are used to block off any light coming from the perforations, which can alter the image.
For that, this test measures the light on the CCD, and checks that it is nil outside the measurement zone of of the image.
If the plates are not there, this can cause quality image problems, such as for example brighter vertical bands on the images (of the size of the perforations).
It should be noted that the check of the presence of the plates can be visually made.

2. Test conditions.

This test relates to the 135 Film carrier inserted in the scanner.
The 135 Film carrier must be inserted in the scanner to carry out this test.
No film is necessary for this test.
The acceptance of the test is automatic.
No parameter is saved.

3. Pre-requirements.

None.

4. Test realisation.

Click on RUN to execute the test. The result is almost immediately displayed on the screen.
The green curve indicates the light received by the Green CCD. The dark window is the window in which light is visible by the CCD (outside, the CCD hardly catches any light).

5. Test acceptance.

The dark window must be inside the red window so that the test is accepted. If it is outside, this means that the CCD catches light where it should not (because normally hidden by the plates).

6. Other affected tests.

None.

7. Trouble shooting.

  • The test is rejected : remove the protective plate and visually check that the plates are present. Add them if needed. If they are present, check their positioning. Reposition them as required.
